Upcoming 2009-2010 Season Events
From the President,
We welcome you to another concert season of the Boca Raton Symphonia. It was over five years ago that we first began planning for Boca Raton to have a world class orchestra of our own. We knew it would be challenging and that we would have a constant need for talented and accomplished volunteers, generous contributors and the services of the finest musicians in the area. We hope you agree that we have been successful as we present the Symphonia's fifth season. We believe that the programs we have prepared and the musical results you will enjoy will prove to make your Symphonia an even more vital force in the artistic life of Boca Raton.
Among our innovative projects for this season are the four Saturday Matinee Family Concerts which are designed for family participation featuring appealing programs for all ages. Our Lunch and Learn programs presented at the Boca Resort on the Fridays preceeding each of our Sunday Connoisseur Concerts will now be open to the public for the first time. These are all part of our planned Musical Weekend Fests.
We have benefited greatly from having the talented and enthusiastic services of our Principal Conductor Alexander Platt, who has led our Symphonia at concerts during each season of our five year history. The Maestro will be concluding his role as our Principal Conductor this season but we look forward to his return in future seasons as one of our guest conductors.
To maintain our artistic standards and goals, we are delighted to announce Philippe Entremont as our new Principal Conductor beginning next season. Among his many accomplishments, noted pianist and conductor Entremont is the former Chief Conductor and current Conductor Laureate of both the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
On behalf of our Symphonia Board of Directors I express our deep appreciation to you, our concert subscribers, to our sponsors and contributors, and to Boca Raton and Palm Beach County officials and the general public whose continued support has made it possible for all of us to to take great pride in Boca Raton having its own world class orchestra.
Cordially,
Marshall Turkin, President
