A Letter From Alexander Platt
Dear Friends, Making music for you in Boca Raton
these past two seasons as your
Principal Conductor has been an
exhilarating experience.
Continuing
our tradition of offering you
distinctive quality programming
available nowhere else in the area on
a regular basis, we invite you to join
us for our fifth season of Connoisseur Concerts.
In 2009-10 we will pursue our celebration of the
Bicentennial years of those we call “The Romantic
Generation,” some of the most beloved composers of all
time, who flourished in the early-19th century. In this, the
continuation of a three-year super-season celebrating
some of the greatest music ever written, we will continue
to explore the music of Felix Mendelssohn (born in
1809), Robert Schumann (1810), Frederic Chopin (1810),
and later on, Franz Liszt (1811). At the Boca Symphonia,
in what has become our “house style,” we offer “a
program of mostly rare treats,” as one critic recently
wrote, in which we mix the familiar and the forgotten for
a concert that will provoke your mind and stir your soul.
Once again, bringing together our outstanding musicians
and world-class guest soloists—who are attracted by the
orchestra’s growing reputation as word of our work and
our Boca hospitality becomes widely known—this
anniversary season of the Boca Raton Symphonia will
provide for a truly memorable series.
Musically Yours,
Alexander Platt
Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor
