Millicent Duvall, representing the Boca Raton Symphonia, was named the 2008 Woman Volunteer of the Year at the 21st Annual Woman Volunteer of the Year Luncheon and Fashion Show hosted by the Junior League of Boca Raton.
In recognition of Mrs. Duvall’s volunteer efforts, WVOY platinum sponsor Woolbright Development has awarded the Boca Raton Symphonia with a $10,000 donation. She also received a beautiful 14-carat-gold brooch designed by Ivan & Co., which is the traditional WVOY pin presented to the winner each year.
"Milicent Duvall truly represents the spirit of the Woman Volunteer of the Year Award. She has been actively involved in many community organizations and projects in and around Boca Raton, and the Junior League of Boca Raton is very proud to have one of our own sustainers receive this tremendous honor" stated Kristen Ross, President of the Junior League of Boca Raton.
Millicent Duvall is a dedicated community volunteer who was nominated for her service to the Boca Raton Symphonia where she has served in various positions including on the Member Leadership Council, as Vice President of Administration, Acting President, Vice President of Development and Director.
Duvall coordinated Marketing and Administrative efforts to successfully launch the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia, further developed administrative structure of organization and execution of inaugural season performance production and assumed the role as Acting President in which she restructured financial policies and procedures to meet the rapid growth of the organization while significantly expanded programming.
She co-chaired a committee of various not-for-profit organization leaders on behalf of 40 not-for-profit organizations to collectively celebrate the life and efforts of one of Community’s most generous Community Leaders. The celebration was attended by 500 guests and raised more than $10,000, which was donated to the City of Boca Raton for a free “American Music Celebration” concert, which she also coordinated.
As the VP Development, Mrs. Duvall diligently coordinated and participated in grant writing, individual and corporate development, as well as increasing and facilitating expansion of multiple performance opportunities. Delighted with the acclaimed artistic excellence of The Boca Raton Symphonia, Duvall diligently worked to secure funds to annually share classical music performances with school children in grades 3-5 in a series entitled “American Landscapes and Landmarks” featuring the works of exceptional American Composers of diverse classical music. She also coordinated with major benefactors free concerts for the general public, enabling The Boca Raton Symphonia to introduce and share outstanding classical performances with all ages in Mizner Park.
Mrs. Duvall is currently working with an outstanding team of volunteers to explore numerous performance opportunities for The Boca Raton Symphonia and collaborations with many cultural organizations in our community, as The Boca Raton Symphonia enters its 4th season.
